In
compulsory education, dance is often introduced through the folklore of various
regions or integrated into theater activities, predominantly featuring modern
and contemporary choreography. However, for students engaged in studying the
civilizations of past centuries through literature, art, philosophy, and
history, dance offers significant educational value. As a universal language,
dance seamlessly fits into the context of any era, highlighting the importance
of the body, beauty, and harmony. For over twenty years, the "Il
Contrapasso" association has been promoting the art of dance, offering
training courses for teachers and students at all educational levels. Its goal
is to support the teaching of historical dances, particularly in elementary and
middle schools and in specialized high schools focused on dance, transforming
historical dance into a new way of studying the past from an interdisciplinary
perspective.
